June 2016 Update

A book is a gift you can open again and again – Garrison Keillor

Remember those days when summer holidays were coming to an end and it is time to go back to school? Though ending holidays was the sad part, entering new class and meeting old friends was always most awaited.  Little things like buying a new bag, getting new books, spending time to cover those books always excited us. Those were the days when the smallest things in the world brought biggest smile on our faces. Now that we have moved to the real world and can’t go back to enjoy those little things, we decided to see that happiness on faces of children who can’t afford to pay for a new bag or buy new books. Of course, Happiness shared is happiness doubled!

One of our donors approached Ashvattha with a request to supply books and stationary to few poor students of Dharmapuri Government School, Karimnagar Dist. Our volunteers visited the school, gathered some details with help of school teachers  and prepared a list of items that those students need for one academic year. Ashvattha decided to donate a set of items containing a bag, 14 note books, a compass box, pens, pencils, writing pad, a dictionary and a plate for mid-day meals to about 72 students from that school. On June 25th these sets were distributed by the volunteers at the school and we couldn’t be more happier to see the smiles of their faces. We are also happy to share that few newspapers published this news in their Karimnagar edition.
