October 2018 Update

It gives a lot of strength just knowing that there is family and friends around to help support in the tough times. And, it gives even greater strength and respect on mankind when you know that people unrelated to you also come forward to show their support. After all, we belong to one kind – The Mankind. The world is a better place because of all the people who believe in that oneness. We are proud to have many such people at Ashvattha! 
One of the volunteers from Ashvattha needed help for their family member Pranay fighting with lungs, liver and kidney infection. Pranay was admitted in Apollo Hospital and was on dialysis. His family and friends were able to help Pranay with some financial support, but they need more help to pay the hospital bills. Ashvattha stepped forward to show support and donated a check of Rs.20,000. We hope Pranay recovers soon.

September 2018 Update

Most of the times we see charity or help as something that benefits only the person on the receiving end. If may not always be true. The happiness you get in making someone smile, the inspiration you receive from someone fighting against the odds, the appreciation you get for just lending a helping hand, all above all the satisfaction you get when you realize you helped someone with their life… all these things are definitely on the other end, the giving end of charity and it is a honor to be on this end. Thank you for all such honorable people you support Ashvattha.

We received a request from one of our members, to help 3 days old premature twins. They weigh extremely low and their lungs were not developed completely. The twins have been admitted to NICU since they were born and were on respiratory and MV support. The support needs to continue for 8-10 weeks to develop their organs and it was costing several thousands per day. The family comes from a low-income group and they have already used all the savings they had to save their children. Getting all these details, Ashvattha volunteer visited the parents at Rainbow hospital in L.B.Nagar and donated an amount of Rs.50,000. We hope the babies recover soon and stay healthy.

August 2018 Update – 2

When it comes to helping others, there are two categories of people. Those who “Share” and those who “Give”. While Sharing is from your abundance, Giving is from your need. Both are equally important and necessary. However, there are very few who Give. While Sharing helps the others, Giving saves the humanity. When you Give something and return with empty hands, you are leaving space for something new and better in your life. Thank you for the donors of Ashvattha who go that extra mile to Give. You are the reason behind making many families happy! Team Ashvattha was requested to help A.Raju, who was suffering from an intestine problem and was admitted in NIMS Hospital for a major surgery. Volunteers from our team visited Raju and his family to know about the current situation. The family comes from a low-income background where Raju works as a watchman, his wife is a maid. Team Ashvattha donated an amount of Rs.10,000 to support them for the surgery. Hope Raju recovers soon to take care of his wife and their daughter!  Thank you all for your support in making a difference!

August 2018 Update

We are living in a society that is forever-changing and where the change is rapid. Sometimes, it feels like there is more bad happening than good and the questions that bothers everybody is “why?”. Why do bad things happen to good people? Why do we live in a world with so much pain and suffering? Why is there so much sorrow in our lives?
We may not be able to answer any of those “whys”. It is beyond human understanding. Also, it is not worth searching answers for what had already happened. The question should be “what do we do?”. What do we do to make the world a better place? What do we do to make our lives happy? What do we do to change our perspective of life?
Acceptance is the first step to move on. Accept that bad things will always happen but never loose hope. There is more good than bad happening in the world. Believe that there is more happiness than sorrow in our lives. If hundreds of people are willing to help a person who they have never met and will never meet in their lives, this must me true. There is more good in people than we see. Let’s change the perspective of seeing at life. The world around us is as beautiful as it ever is, we just have to be open to see it. 
For Ashavttha, it is you people who go out of your way to help reduce the suffering of others, that make us believe in the beauty of human life. Thank you for giving us that infinite hope which drives us! Thank you for making us believe that there is more good in the people! Thank you for being the reason behind many beautiful smiles!
This month, we helped Harika, a 14 yr old girl, who is suffering with serious uterus related issue “Right Pelvi-Uretieric Junction Obstruction”. She went through a surgery already and needed one more surgery to solve the problem. She comes from a very poor background and her family was looking for help. One of our volunteers from Dharmapuri brought this request to Ashvattha and we were able to help the girl. Team Ashvattha visited the girl at Asian Nephrology Hospital in Hyderabad and donated an amount of Rs.30,000 for the surgery. We hope Harika recovers soon!

“The best gift you can give a child is education.” 

Education is the most powerful weapon with which one can change the world. Along with giving knowledge education changes the world into something better. It helps in developing a perspective of looking at life. More than anything, we believe that education breaks the cycle of poverty and gives the children a hope for a bright future.

With this hope, Team Ashvattha planned on playing it’s part in providing education for the orphan kids. After food and shelter, the next best thing one can provide to a child is education, an opportunity to study and build a career to progress in life. We are fortunate to have donors who share the same feeling and belief as Ashavattha. Mohan Pekal a generous donor came forward for this cause and was willing to donate for orphan kids education. We thank Mohan and all the people who joined their hands with us to make this happen.

Team Ashavttha decided to help the children of “Aaradya Foundation” by paying their school fees this year. There were a total of 39 children from various grades all studying at “SSG High School, Medchal”. Our volunteers got in touch with authorities at Aaradya foundation and got the details of all the children and their school fees. Team Ashvattha donated an amount of Rs.1,00,000 (One Lakh) directly to the school. This amount covers the school fees for these children for one year. We hope, this simple but profound act influences and nurtures belief in those young hearts.

We are very happy to share this thank you note from the children. We hope this brings are smile on the faces of all our donors and volunteers of Ashvattha who made this possible. This is a THANK YOU for all of the great hearts supporting Ashvattha.

June 2018 Update

No matter how good or bad you think your life is, wake up each day and be thankful.  Someone somewhere else if fighting to survive!” 

Ashvattha Team came to know about a little girl, Bhanveesri, who is not even 2 years old and is fighting cancer to survive. We feel sorry for the little heart who should be spending her time playing with toys, instead is going through the painful process of chemo. It is not something such a little girl deserves.  This also raises the thought of how fortunate most of us are to have a memorable childhood, caring people around and comfortable life to live. We all have so many blessings in our lives and yet most of the time we fail to notice them or take them for granted. Being thankful and expressing gratitude are the most powerful tools for happiness. It adds a lot of positive emotions to life. Life is all about experiences the little moments and enjoying the little things around you. Just waking up in the morning and knowing all the people you love and care about are still alive and healthy is sufficient enough for any day to be a good day. Rest of all the little hurdles we face throughout the day are just experiences we gather in our life. 
Ashvattha is grateful to all the amazing people who are changing the lives for hundreds of people, by being a part of our team. YOU are the reason behind many smiles each day. We are sure Baby Bhanveesri will recover soon and have a beautiful and bright childhood!
Here is her story… Baby Bhanveesri, 1 year 7 months old, is suffering from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She was diagnosed with cancer when she was 3 months old.  After 10 months of high dose chemo treatment and started maintenance. Unfortunately, after few months here disease relapsed. Doctors have planned for Bone marrow transplantation which would cost around 4 Lakhs. We contacted the baby’s mother Jwalamukhi and talked to her about her condition. The parents spent every rupee that had on the baby’s help and are now requesting help from friends and family. Ashvattha Team met the family and donated a check of Rs:50,000. As the baby health is critical and all their resources exhausted, every single contribution counts. If you are willing to contribute more, please contact Jwalamukhi (baby’s mother)

The strongest people we meet in our lives do not have an easier life. They just have learned to create strength and happiness from dark places. It is true that every problem doesn’t have a simple and quick solution. But, if one is persistent enough, the solution will be found. It is these tough problems that makes a person strong, teaches life and helps shape a beautiful personality. We may not be able to help solve every problem in every person’s life, but the least we could do is show compassion and love to those in need. It gives them strength to keep going forward with a hope for tomorrow. Roma, is the 21-year-old girl who has been suffering with Rickets for the past few years. She is one tough soul fighting her own battle and struggling for life.  Team Ashvattha helped Roma a few times in the past. We have been in contact with her mother to know how she is recovering. Roma’s mother recently requested Ashvattha again for help with the treatment. Ashvattha decided to help this brave girl, one more time. All we could do for her is to show some compassion and help as much as we can. Our volunteers visited the girl and donated a check of Rs, 20.000. We hope she gains more strength and recovers soon! We appreciate all our donors and volunteers, for their continuous support! Thank you!

Success stories are a proof that an organization is effective. On behalf of all the donors of Ashvattha we follow up on the donations we make, to make sure the amount we donated served it’s purpose. Especially, when the donation was for some medical purposes, we would like to know if the patient has recovered. It gives us a great satisfaction them recovering and also motivates us to help many more in need. Here is one such story from Ashvattha.Ramesh from Sunipenta (near Srisailam), is the person who Ashvattha helped in 2014 when he met with an accident and had to undergo a Brain Surgery in NIMS Hospital. The surgery was successful but later Ramesh was completely bed ridden with paralyzed left leg and left hand. He was taken to Kerala for Ayurvedic Physiotherapy Treatment and his wife requested Ashvattha for help again in 2016. Team Ashvattha visited Ramesh personally and helped him for the treatment. He has been undergoing the treatment for a couple of years now and it is improving his condition. This year they again requested Ashvattha for help to continue the treatment. Volunteers from Ashvattha contacted them, took all the details and an amount of Rs.30,000 has been donated to Ramesh. We are very happy to see how he has recovered in the past 4 years. Ramesh sent a video thanking Ashvattha and we are very happy to share that video with you. Please find it attached. Ramesh’s family also called Ashvattha to thank us personally. We are happy to hear from them and we wish Ramesh a speedy recovery.

“If you ate today, Thank a farmer!“

Not every family on this earth is lucky enough to have their basic needs fulfilled. Specially, with farming as the main occupation we see and hear about many families struggling to make their ends meet. It is hard enough for a farmer to feed his family, with all his sweat and blood. We can imagine how hard it would be to see his grown up son bed ridden and suffering with pain. We came to know about such family recently.

Sambasiva, a 22 year old from Rejerla Village – Khammam District, was suffering with a pain in abdomen and was diagnosed with Hepatitis B (Chronic HBV, a liver disease). Doctors suggested a surgery which cost nearly 1.5 Lakhs as soon as possible as that scenario would lead to Liver Cancer. Coming from a farming background, his family was not able to support for the operation and medical expenses. As soon as Ashvattha received the request, we reached out to the Sambasiva’s family in Khammam. We came to know that he was admitted in Hasini Hospitals in Vijayawada. One of our volunteer’s went all the way to Vijayawada to know the current status and donated a check of Rs.30,000 for the operation on the name of the hospital. Surgery was successful.

We came to know that Sambasiva completed his Diploma Civil Engineering. Hope he will recover soon and have a bright career to support his family and make his dreams come true.

January 2018 Update

Team Ashvattha have received a request from one of the family we helped a couple of times, in year 2014. Roma,a young girl with age 21 years, has been suffering with Rickets for the past 10 years. Roma’s father expired in 2006 leaving her mother to take care of the kids. Since then, her mother is struggling very hard to provide on-going treatment for her child and run the family. She approached Ashvattha again for help. Ashvattha volunteers contacted her to know the present situation of Roma is and the treatment details. Treatment is being provided by nature care doctors, which would cost about 6 Lakhs per year and should continue for 3 years. 

After getting the details, Team Ashvattha decided to support the girl for a couple of months going forward. We donated an amount of Rs.20,000 for the month of January. We will follow up with Roma’s mother and provide support as need in future.Below is her family picture, when she was a kid. Someday, we hope time will bring back the same smile she had on her face back then.
